Corridor Management Plan

This section is primarily meant for participants assisting Delaware Greenways in developing the Corridor Management Plan for the Lewes Scenic and Historic Byway - Gateways of Lewes. All visitors are welcome however, and we would love to hear any comments you may have about the Lewes Byway roads and any experiences you may have had in your travels along them.

Summary:

This site is being used not just by travelers but by everyone interested in working on the Corridor Management Plan (CMP) of Lewes Scenic and Historic Byway - Gateways of Lewes. It functions as a source of information for those not able to attend meetings, and as a supplementary way to give notice of meetings in the future, on various topics. This is a Byway for the people and businesses that live on or near the Corridor, as well as for travelers enjoying it for the first or fiftieth time.

Nomination Document - The National and State Designation procedure to become a National or State Designated Scenic and Historic Byway is a two part process. The first step is the production of the Nomination Application Document, which lays out the justification for accepting the road under consideration into the program. It first describes the Route overall, then illustrates the Intrinsic Qualities found there segment by segment (there are six), relating their significance regionally and nationally. Lewes Scenic Historic Byway was designated by DelDOT as a State Scenic Byway in 2008. This Nomination Application Document provided the basis for this designation. The document contains many excellent photos of interesting buildings, places and natural phenomena.
